How does whiteness operate as property; require, acquire, and manipulate property; and control the parameters of surveillance and privacy of property? How does the pursuit of status-production via home decor disrupt community- and ancestrally-attuned homemaking practices within white American dwellings?
This work investigates the problematics of white homemaking that render white living spaces nonfunctional as units of family, veneration, and responsibility, opting rather for curated status maintenance and aesthetic manipulation.
